Come one, come all to the Cinema and Miniature Museum (French: Musée Cinéma et Miniature) nestled in the heart of Lyon’s historic old town (Vieux Lyon).
Truly one of a kind in Europe, this fascinating museum combines the worlds of two immersive art forms: special effects in film and miniature art. A visit to the Lyon Cinema and Miniature Museum is like visiting two museums at the same time!
On one hand, you have a portion of the museum dedicated to movie special effects. This collection showcases all the tricks and techniques applied to create special effects in films before digital filmmaking became widespread. Go behind the scenes to see more than 450 cinematic objects including the original costume from ‘Batman Forever’ and a triceratops from ‘Jurassic Park.’
The other half of the Lyon Cinema and Miniature Museum features over 100 realistic miniature scenes created by Dan Ohlmann, the museum’s founder, and other European and international miniature artists. This curated collection of meticulously crafted small-scale models is the largest in France.
