National Maritime Museum

Sail through the National Maritime Museum to delve deep into Britain's seafaring history. You’ll learn all about the sea voyagers, explorers and merchants who once ruled the waves alongside artefacts and exhibits to discover. Starting at the Great Map, immerse yourselves in epic tales of discovery as you visit the different galleries. Get up close to a real Fijian canoe and figureheads, admire Nelson’s Trafalgar uniform and stare at the intricate paint strokes of Turner’s largest painting – The Battle of Trafalgar.

Little sailors will have lots of fun in the AHOY! Children’s Gallery and interactive games throughout the museum. Keep an eye out for exhibitions, events and workshops – from photography awards to Lunar New Year lion dances and Diwali celebrations. Across the road, you can continue your maritime journey at the Royal Observatory, home to the Prime Meridian Line and the towering Cutty Sark, the last of the 19th-century tea clippers.
