Villahermosa is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Tabasco. The city is situated 863 kilometers southeast from Mexico City. Also known as La Esmeralda del Sureste (The Emerald of the Southeast), Villahermosa is a modern city rich in natural resources, in terms of both agriculture and farming. Today, Villahermosa is a modern city and one of the most important commercial points in the long stretch of territory between Mexico City and Cancún, perhaps second only to Mérida in Yucatán. Among its main sights is La Venta Museum-Park, which includes a small zoo, has the most important collection of Olmec artifacts.
