Kortrijk, also known as Courtrai, is a Belgian city located in West Flanders with a wider municipality including the villages of Aalbeke, Bellegem, Bissegem, Heule, Kooigem, Marke and Rollegem. This Roman town grew significantly in the Middle Ages due to its flax and wool industry, trading with France and England, it became one of the biggest and richest cities in Flanders.
